He has extensive knowledge of neurological and psychiatric disorders with a talent to lead and mentor scientists and project teams. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Preclinical CNS Research
- Extensive experience of preclinical basic and applied CNS drug discovery research at several international pharmaceutical firms
- Led a staff of associate scientists, post-doctoral researchers, and student interns in an in vitro neuropharmacology laboratory setting to identify compounds for further develop-ment as potential drugs and to establish new assays enhancing drug discovery efforts
Project Management
- Served as team leader and member of multidisciplinary team liaising with biologists, chemists, toxicologists, clinicians, and managers on drug discovery projects effectively advancing several drug candidates to extensive preclinical evaluation as a prerequisite to clinical development for multiple indications
External Visibility
- Initiated and maintained several international academic collaborations enhancing drug discovery and basic research efforts as development opportunities to progress the science
- Published more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at more than 70 international scientific meetings
- Senior-authored a key opinion article (Trends Pharmacol. Sci. 28 (2007) 75-82) on the mechanism of action of the novel, Pfizer-marketed drugs gabapentin (Neurontin®) and pregabalin (Lyrica®)
